Story
Schools across the country will be participating in the Mini London Marathon in April and May 2026 - both in London and onsite at their own school. St Peter's will participate for its second year and the PTFA is very excited to help! Our event isn't just a fundraiser towards school resources, it's a celebration to launch our brand new daily mile running track and the school's commitment to wellbeing and movement!
🏃 As you may know, St Peter's has an all weather running track on the school field which means that pupils can maintain their fitness and stamina all year round. It has been in desperate need of renovation! Thanks to funds raised from the PTFA, the School and from local and national organisations, our track will be removed and fully renovated ahead of our Mini Marathon in April 2026!
🏃 The Daily Mile is a core part of every pupil's week at St Peter's and teachers choose when their class will run, fitting it into to an appropriate part of the school day. Running also has huge benefits for mental health and wellbeing. A short burst of physical activity boosts the readiness for learning as it has an impact on mood, alertness, verbal memory and reaction time. We have Daily Mile leaders and at various points in the year, classes compete for the greatest distance completed.
🏃 We hope that a new track will continue to inspire enthusiasm for running throughout the school and we regularly field the largest team in the Farnham and District Schools Cross Country events. St Peter's has for many years organised this incredible event at Farnham Park on two Saturdays across the year and will again lead it in May 2026. We are excited that our new facility will host inter-school events from the summer term and be open to local community and sports groups out of school hours, by prior arrangement. Please enquire at the school office.
