Story
Suicide is everyone’s business
We have a vision of a society where suicide is openly and widely discussed, where people feel able to seek help when all feels lost and are suitably supported when they do reach out, a society where everyone understands the role they can play in suicide prevention, and where those bereaved and impacted by suicide receive the support they need, when they need it. We are part of a growing movement aspiring to a zero-suicide society.
Stride Against Suicide is not your usual running event! You and your team of up to 5 will run (or walk!) as many laps as you can in 2 hours around the beautiful landscaped grounds of Fell Foot at the south end of Lake Windermere.
Get your mates, your local quiz team, office colleagues, or your Pilates pals and join us to run as many laps as you can. Runners have to be at least 16 years and entry is £10 per person, plus we encourage participants' own fundraising. All money raised from the event goes towards Every Life Matters, reducing suicide rates in Cumbria through suicide prevention training, awareness raising and bereavement support.
It’s not just about running fast! There will be music, refreshments and a variety of prizes up for grabs alongside the cup for most laps completed by a team and individual – best team name, largest and smallest combined age, largest and smallest combined shoe size, best outfits and many more.
There’s also a café open to runners and supporters at Fell Foot and the beautiful Lake Windermere to swim in to cool down once you’ve done your race. Or just sunbathe and unwind on the Cumbrian Riviera at the lake shore.
