Story
This July, two members of Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds’ management team are lacing up their boots for an extraordinary challenge.
Craig Jarvis and Jonny Gleeson will walk the full length of the Peddars Way in 36 hours: a 46-mile National Trail beginning in Holme-Next-The-Sea, winding through rugged landscapes and quiet countryside. The final day of the challenge, organised by the Theatre Royal Friends Committee and Craig Jarvis, will see the group joined by a team of fundraising walkers to walk the final 16 miles from Knettishall Heath, the end of the Peddars Way Route, to Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds in aid of transforming the lives of children in our community to support Theatre Royal Youth Theatre including a brand-new Youth Theatre at Howard Community Primary School.
How will my donation help?
Every mile walked, every blister earned, will help to fund something truly special: a new Youth Theatre at Howard Community Academy Primary School in Bury St Edmunds and bursary places for Theatre Royal’s established Youth Theatres. This new initiative at Howard Community Academy Primary School will give children who might never otherwise have had the opportunity the chance to discover the joy and confidence that theatre can bring.
Alison Weir, Headteacher and Howard Community Academy Primary School says: “We are incredibly proud to be part of this exciting initiative with Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds. As holders of the Artsmark Gold Award, we know the enormous difference that creativity, performance and the arts can make to our children’s confidence, wellbeing and aspirations, and this new Youth Theatre will open up exciting opportunities for our pupils and the wider community. We are so grateful to everyone taking part in Stride For The Stage and supporting this fantastic cause. Every step taken will help create opportunities that will have a lasting impact on young people’s lives.”
