LIV LUKHANYISO - Grahamstown/Makhanda South Africa
The Eastern Cape, South Africa has the highest poverty level in the country.
The LIV model is long term cluster foster care, where children have a sense of belonging in a supportive community.
We place orphaned and vulnerable children in a family environment where all their needs are met by taking a holistic approach to physical, emotional and spiritual healing.
Key challenges for our province are education, job creation, skills development, sexual health education (regarding STDs and unplanned pregnancies) and gender equity due to the high number of female headed households.
At capacity, LIV Lukhanyiso Village will provide holistic residential care for 500 orphan and vulnerable children with the core vision to RESCUE a child, RESTORE a life, RAISE a leader and RELEASE a star.
As a church we are aiming to raise £40,000 which will build one of the houses and infrastructure for a family, providing safety and security for the most needy of children.
