Story
Across Charles Sturt University's regional campuses, increasing numbers of students are experiencing financial hardship as rising living costs place pressure on already stretched budgets.
For many students, the cost of rent, groceries, fuel, textbooks and study-related expenses leaves very little money for life's basic necessities.
In some cases, students are living on as little as $80 a week for groceries.
That's why the Charles Sturt Student Food Pantry has become an essential source of support.
The pantry provides access to food and essential household items, helping students focus on their studies rather than worrying about where their next meal is coming from.
Across our regional campuses, more than 420 students access pantry services each week, highlighting the growing demand for support.
A helping hand when it's needed most
One student recently shared:
"The pantry helped take away some of the stress. Knowing I could access basic food items meant I could focus on my studies instead of worrying about how I was going to get through the week."
Stories like this are becoming increasingly common as students navigate the realities of studying during a cost-of-living crisis.
For many, the Student Food Pantry provides more than food. It provides dignity, stability and the opportunity to continue working towards a brighter future.
