Story
Indian Futures has been working towards quality education and gender balance with the most disadvantaged communities in rural South India since 2017.
During this time, we have created 3 IT centres and a Sponsorship Programme for female university students, and provided employment to 7 teachers and admin staff in the area.
Our aim for the academic year 2026/27 is to continue to develop our Sponsorship Programme further, and so, in conjunction with Accenture Ltd. (Chennai), we have created a mentoring and advice service for all our female students. This service is essential to help break the barriers our students face when attending university and guarantee their academic success and, most importantly, a life of independence and fulfilment beyond university.
Through this campaign, we are requesting sponsorship for our 14 students for the academic year 2026/27 - this includes their university fees and transport, educational material and the salary of our Sponsorship Coordinator, Kalpana, who supports the students both academically and emotionally through this important stage of their lives.
You can do a one-off or a monthly donation. If you are unsure as to how much to donate, here is a breakdown of costs:
- £55 a month = Full Sponsorship
- £30 a month = Sponsorship Coordinator's salary or the university fees of one student
- £20 a month = Transport to/from university
- £5 a month = University books and other costs, such as outings
Today, and thanks to this campaign, you are able to make a difference and help us give rural women this opportunity they so much deserve.
On their behalf, and on behalf of their families and the Indian Futures Team, thank you very much for your contribution.
