As many of you may have followed, the conflict that erupted on 15 April 2023 in Sudan escalated with ethnically targeted atrocities cited as genocide in places like Darfur. We had been warning against this for some time, for instance, in our report over a year before: Can we prevent the spread of renewed atrocities in Sudan?

Rights for Peace is doing important work strengthening resilience to genocide. With the right methods, it is possible to reverse prejudice and hate that leads to violence. We are seeing remarkable results from our training: community leaders agreeing not to take sides but remain neutral.
