The Summer Holidays and inevitable extra expense can be daunting for families, particularly those on low income who are struggling week-to-week to make ends meet.
That's why we launched our pilot for Summer Survival Bags in 2023. The concept involved creating boxes full of activities to keep families busy over the summer period by providing toys, games and activities to support the cognitive, social and emotional development of young children, whilst encouraging family bonding and alleviating parent's stress.
What started with initially wanting to create 50 boxes ended with making 120 boxes to go to families.
"I absolutely dread the summer holidays, it's such a long period of time with no structure and it costs so much to keep the kids occupied" CCP Family
In 2024, and with no let-up in the cost-of-living crisis, we are proud to be in a position to coordinate a new generation of the Summer Bag Appeal.
All proceeds from the appeal will support at least 150 families that access CCP's Family Support in Gloucestershire, South Gloucestershire and Dorset as well as some external partners who have also identified families that would benefit.
This is an entirely fundraising-driven appeal, and the more we raise the more families we can help.
