Story
The Racehorse Sanctuary is a registered charity which exists to offer ex-racehorses a safe and secure future when they leave the racing industry. Thousands of horses leave racing every year and lots of them need our help! Our approach is a little different than some of the other rehoming charities, because we really do offer sanctuary for all. Horses come to us for all sorts of reasons. Because they are retiring from racing and their owners or trainers want to secure a safe future for them. Because they were rehomed but sadly a chance in circumstances means their owner cannot offer a forever home. Because they need specialist veterinary attention or farrier expertise to stay healthy and well. Because theyve fallen into tough times and need our care and attention to recover. Because theyre simply not suited to a riding or companion home and need a specialist environment to thrive.
Whatever the reason that a horse comes to us, one thing is certain - we will do our very best for them and ensure they live out their days in safety and comfort. Weve helped hundreds of ex-racehorses find the special people and homes they need to live out their days in peace and, quite often, luxury! We love these magnificent creatures, and we know you do too. Its why our loyal band of supporters donate their hard-earned money to help us carry out our vital work. If you can spare to go towards our Summer Appeal, we would be so very grateful.
The poster girl for our Summer Appeal is Blossom. Blossom is an 8-year- old mare who has been fostered for us in Yorkshire by Sarah, who has done a fantastic job of patiently bringing Blossom to enjoy a full active life, despite the leg problems she has had from birth. As well as enjoying the friendship of Sarah's other horses, Blossom has a real job as part of her team providing Equine Facilitated Learning. Just like all Thoroughbreds, as well as love and care, she needs a purpose in life to thrive. This summer Sarah has taken the opportunity to become Blossoms lifetime keeper. Please donate generously to help us to be able to tell more stories like Blossoms in the future! Thank you.
