Story
I'm doing a 24-hour sponsored silence for South Yorkshire Chaplaincy & Listening Service, to raise awareness of the importance of listening.
£300 could fund 2 months listening sessions for a vulnerable child.
More than 1 in 7 people say their mental health is the worst it's ever been, and 66% feel they have no-one to talk to. SYCLS is there to listen.
SYCLS provides vital listening support to someone, on average, every 2 hours.
All funds will help SYCLS continue to provide safe spaces for people to be heard.
I'm staying silent so others can speak.
Here's what it means to those who've had the chance to be listened to:
I felt heard and understood for the first time. SYCLS helped me find strength to move forward and be happy.
Being able to speak with someone quickly when I hit crisis really helped me to not give up. The reduction in anxiety and self-blame experienced allowed me to tackle my problems with renewed hope and clarity.
