Cricket has been played in Sunningwell for over 150 years and we intend to keep it that way! Our current pavilion was built by members in the 70s, but since then, cricket in Sunningwell has changed. We still maintain a thriving adult section, but now support over 100 juniors (boys and girls) and county fixtures (both boys and girls) are regularly played in Sunningwell. Rules and regulations change and the pavilion, although serving us well, for many reasons is no long fit for a modern cricket club.
We need a new pavilion to be compliant to safeguarding rules and support all our members and activities to keep cricket thriving in Sunningwell for the next generation.
This Phase A funding round will pay for the activities required to reach the planning stage. These include, amongst other smaller items, more detailed plans, ecologist, fire, topographical and arboricultural surveys.
As well as asking for donations, the club members will be undertaking some tough challenges to raise money for this cause this year. Watch this space for more details on the events and how to get involved.
