For the past 5 years we have been working hard to find homes for dogs and cats from Romania here in the UK, whilst also supporting our partner rescue in Romania by providing funding each month. We have been able to find home for almost 1000 dogs and cats who are now living their best lives with their amazing families.

All that changed in April 2022 when the UK government imposed a import ban on dogs and cats from 4 countries, with Romania being one of them. This is to do with the movement of animals from Ukraine and a potential bio-security risk.

Despite offering additional blood testing to confirm that our dogs and cats are healthy and safe to come in to the UK the ban is still in effect. We have 25 families waiting for their new arrivals at the time of writing, with hundreds at the rescue centre who now have very limited options, in some case no options at all. You c

I can't explain how devastating the ban has been to all of us at The Pack Project, and to the wider Romanian rescue community. Knowing there are innocent, healthy animals that have homes waiting is heartbreaking, and knowing the wider consequences to the stray population in Romania is even worse. Our charity runs on donations through the adoptions process mainly, and we have some regular sponsors and fundraisers that we do through raffles. We are currently looking for brands to partner with who might want to help.

The reality is that those things will take time, and we are running out of time. To name a few we have bills for UK kennels, fosters, vets, Romanian rescue funds etc. Our funds are dwindling and we urgently need support whilst we get to work on other longer term funding plans.
