Help Move Us Beyond Celiac
Celiac disease is a serious genetic autoimmune disease that affects health and everyday life. Yet many people remain undiagnosed or misdiagnosed, and others continue to experience symptoms even on a gluten-free diet.
Beyond Celiac unites with patients and partners to drive diagnosis and advance research toward new treatments and a cure.
The Need Is Real
Only 24% of Americans understand that celiac disease is an autoimmune disease.
Even on a gluten-free diet, more than half of those with celiac disease continue to have symptoms.
Over 50% of Americans who have celiac disease are undiagnosed or misdiagnosed.
Research That Moves Us Forward
Since 2016, Beyond Celiac has invested more than 3.5 million dollars in grant funding for celiac disease research.
In 2022, Beyond Celiac and the SSCD awarded an $180,000 grant to Arnold Han, MD PhD to investigate CD8 T-cells in celiac disease.
The People Behind the Mission
Behind every statistic is a person navigating life with celiac disease. Hear directly from our community about the realities of the disease and why progress matters.
It's a daily challenge, but I prefer to be happy, not sick, and to live a healthy life. - Bionqua
