Support Emma Fowler in the Great North Run 2026

I am running to raise funds to support both St. Bede’s Palliative Care Unit and the QE Trust choir.

Great North Run 2026 · 13 September 2026 ·

Closes 31/12/2026

We want to improve the experience of our hospital for our patients by purchasing extra equipment or training which will make the difference. If you wish to support a particular ward or department, please state which one in your message and our finance team will ensure it goes to the right place.

Story

I have worked as a doctor on St. Bede’s for 18 years. I have completed 20 Great North Runs (slowly).

St. Bede’s offer the only palliative care in-patient beds for Gateshead. We provide care and symptom management for patients with life-limiting illnesses and support for their families and love ones.

“We will do all we can not only to help you die peacefully, but also to live until you die” Dame Cicely Saunders.

The Trust choir was set up after Covid to promote health and wellbeing for the staff.

Singing in a choir has been shown to help mental health by decreasing stress and loneliness.

It aids physical health through improving breathing and posture. It enhances cognitive functions like memory. It can help with social bonding and fostering a sense of community. The choir is open to everyone in the Trust whatever their role and irrespective of their musical knowledge or ability. We sing at Trust events and for pleasure.

Thank you for your generosity — every contribution, no matter the size, makes a meaningful impact.
