FPSA fundraising support

2020 has been an incredibly difficult year for fundraising. We are trying hard but are well short of what we would normally raise and funds are running very low. We appreciate any donations you can make to support our schools! Thank you :o)

The FPSA is a PTA that brings together parents, teachers and the community to support and raise funds for Furze Platt Infant and Junior Schools through various events and activities. All your help and donations go towards improving our schools and the facilities enjoyed by our children. Thank you.

Story

In 2019, through 43 events, donations on purchases, matched funding and Eco Party Pack hire, the FPSA raised a whopping £37,922 for the Infant and Junior schools to spend on enrichment items for the benefit of our children. As we heard at the AGM, in 2019 and 2020 this money has been spent on a wide variety of items for both schools (along with left over funds from 2018):

For the Infants in 2019 and 2020 the FPSA have funded: £9,500 for SMART board panels in classrooms, £5,400 for 12 laptops with wireless headsets for classrooms, £1,700 towards the lease of 21 iPads and 2 charging trolleys, £3,000 for a new sound system for the hall, £3,600 for Bee-Bots and Blue-Bots for each classroom, £4,000 towards renovation of Beech, Willow, Hazel and Holly classrooms, £1,400 for stackable benches, £2,000 for creating the Nature area , £1,000 for new kitchen garden wooden growing beds, £750 for new bookcases and reading books plus a myriad of smaller items of play equipment and Elf visits!

For the Juniors in 2019: £8,000 towards the lease of 33 iPads, £894 for 6 Apple TVs in classrooms, £215 on author visits, £372 towards leavers books, in 2020: £8,350 towards the trim trail extension and willow dome, £4000 towards new bookcases and books for every class, £379 on replacement awnings, £500 on playground equipment and £10,000 towards a new log park play area (coming soon!).

As you can see, the impact the FPSA funds have on our children's learning environment is HUGE!

Mike Wallace, Executive Head (FPPF): "FPSA is and always has been an invaluable support for the two schools. Without the fundraising that the FPSA does, neither school would have the facilities that they have now. From computing software to furniture, to books, to log parks and to enrichment days for the children, the FPSA has supported a diverse range of school projects that your children benefit from. Schools budgets do not fund the 'special bits' that our children enjoy and deserve. The FPSA does that for them so please do support them in keeping our schools great!".

Jane Indge, Head of School (FPIS): "The money raised by the FPSA has a significant impact upon our children's learning and development across the whole school. The funds raised enable us to provide resources and experiences that really do make a huge difference to all of our children. For example, recent purchases of BeeBots and BlueBots for every class in KS1 has enabled the teachers to more effectively integrate computing with other areas of the curriculum to create engaging and fun hands on learning experiences that deepen the children's understanding of particular skills."

Anna Clark, Head of School (FPJS): "The FPSA is literally the icing on the cake for our school and is a huge part of what makes FPJS a cut above the rest. The funding provided by the FPSA over recent years has enabled us to provide new and updated resources to provide enhanced learning experiences for our children. Without the FPSA, we wouldnt have a fantastic library with new and exciting reads, we wouldnt have up to date technology such as the ipads, Lego WeDo and Apple TVs. Our entire learning environment has been enhanced in recent years with updated outdoor play equipment and log park, all due to the FPSA funding. We cannot thank the FPSA enough for making the school the fantastic place it is."

2020 has understandably been a very difficult year for fundraising. We have had to cancel nearly all of our events but have worked hard to do what we can. We have adjusted our processes to be COVID safe - introducing a new uniform sales process, running Happy School Bags and Christmas cards, are running our first online Quiz, a Christmas Trail and an online silent auction.... But we have unfortunately been unable to run our big fundraisers - the fairs and summer camp, which raise thousands - and so our funds are running very low.

If you would like to donate to help raise funds at this difficult time to enable the schools to continue to provide these enhancement projects for our children, it would be very much appreciated.

Thank you and Happy Christmas!!
