Help Mohammad Keep a Roof Over His Head

Mohammad worked with US troops in Afghanistan and was evacuated to the US. He came to the US with a dream for a new life. Now, with injuries sustained while supporting the US government, he struggles to support himself in his new life.

The Diocese of Olympia’s Refugee Resettlement Office (RRO) helps refugees and asylees achieve economic self-sufficiency. Our mission is accomplished through resettlement, job placement activities, and business development programs that promote self-employment

Story

Mohammad once stood shoulder-to-shoulder with U.S. troops in Afghanistan, as a soldier and medic under fire. While working with the Americans, an IED tore through his convoy injuring his neck and face. In the meantime, he’s still waiting for the Special Immigrant Visa promised to him years ago.

Since 2021, he has lived alone, separated from his wife and young children by borders and bureaucracy. He cannot legally work. His savings are gone. The only thing standing between Mohammad and the street is six months of rent in a shared apartment—$5,000 we can raise together.
