Help Us Build a Stronger Future for Shrivenham Equestrian Centre
Nestled within the grounds of the Defence Academy in Oxfordshire, Shrivenham Equestrian Centre (SEC) has been a cherished part of our community since the 1960s. We are now a registered charity and a subsidiary of the Armed Forces Equine Charity.
With this status, we are committed to ensuring the future sustainability of SEC, offering high-quality riding and livery services, Equine Assisted Services, Equine Assisted Recovery Programs and a home to the RDA, all while expanding our reach to support the Armed Forces Community. But we need your help.
In the UK, 20% of equestrian centres have closed in the past year alone — an alarming statistic that represents the loss of over 1.75 million riding lessons annually, leaving countless children and adults without access to the transformative power of horses. At SEC, we are determined to prevent this loss. Through your generous donations, we can continue to offer affordable and accessible equestrian experiences for everyone, particularly those who need it most.
We are also proud to be a Pony Club Centre, an international youth organisation that promotes horsemanship, sportsmanship, and personal growth for young people. Whether they are learning to care for ponies or developing their skills through badges and tests, our annual Pony Club Camp is a beloved event that offers children without their own ponies the chance to experience all the joy and benefits of horse riding.
SEC’s mission goes beyond just providing riding lessons; we are passionate about using horses as a tool for personal growth. We provide Equine Assisted Learning to neurodiverse and disabled children. These sessions help children develop crucial skills such as self-control, communication, problem-solving, self-esteem, empathy, and independence. The impact has been remarkable, as evidenced by the stories of children like J, whose self-confidence has soared, and R, whose low self-esteem has blossomed into a confident, independent teenager — thanks to the unwavering support of our dedicated staff and ponies.
The SEC’s commitment to supporting mental health doesn’t stop with children. We provide life-changing opportunities for military veterans in recovery with both clinical and non-clinical care, helping them heal through equine therapy and recovery programs.
By donating to Shrivenham Equestrian Centre, you are investing in the futures of those that need it most, who will benefit from the transformative power of horses. Your generosity will help us deliver vital services ensuring that Equine Assisted Learning and Veterans’ Recovery Courses can continue to grow and thrive.
Together, we can ensure that SEC remains a place of empowerment, growth, and healing for all. Please consider making a donation today, and help us continue to share the life-changing experience of horses with those who need it most.
Thank you for your support.
