Story
Swan Support started in 2015 operating from a temporary base. Now having been offered a permanent location, our priority is to get ourselves operating at the new site in Bray as soon as possible.
So..we are Pedalo-ing for Pounds to buy Pens & Pontoons for the Swans!
Whilst the challenge is about raising much needed funds for our new site...the bigger aspect is education and awareness!
It is a sobering reality that swans, like much of our wildlife, require our help! Whether it be from injuries because of human behaviour (pollution, fishing tackle), climate change, or the pressures of life on the riverthey suffer in silence. Sadly, the number of dog attacks and shootings are on the increase. In addition, this winter, many flocks and families have been devastated by Avian Influenza, with hundreds dying from the dreadful disease!
And so, while out pedalling, we are hoping to meet as many people as possible and introduce them to Grampus (loaned from Tom Jones Boatyard) who will be able to share what it is like living on the river!
These beautiful birds have given us much pleasure over the years, now they need our support more than ever!
If you are able and willing to donate to help our pedalling volunteers on their way...it will make a huge difference and be much appreciated by us and the swans.
Please note - the event will be subject to safe river conditions and may need to be moved to a later date should the river be redboarded.
