Story
This January, give your liver a rest and your heart a boost.
We all know Blackpool loves a good night out. But while we’re enjoying our town’s famous hospitality, thousands of unpaid carers across Blackpool are working around the clock. They don't get weekends off, they don't get 'closing time', and many haven't had a proper break in years.
That’s why we’re asking you to take on the 'Swap Your Round for Respite' Challenge.
The Challenge is Simple:
For every pint, glass or bottle of wine, or round of drinks for your mates you DON'T BUY this month, donate the cost to Blackpool Carers Centre instead.
By staying dry this January, you aren't just saving your health - you’re funding a lifeline for a local family.
Where Your 'Round' Goes:
Your 'bar tab' can provide real, tangible support for carers of all ages right across Blackpool, some are only 5 years old:
£5 (The cost of a Pint) pays for craft items so that a carer can develop a new skill at a Take 5 Respite session.
£20 (The cost of a bottle of Wine) pays for ingredients at a ‘Learn to Cook’ Respite session for a group of young carers.
£50 (The cost of a weekend round) pays for a respite, feel-good activity for a group of 20 carers on ‘Wellbeing Wednesday’, such as Yoga, African Drumming, Meditation or Baking.
And every pound raised stays right here in Blackpool!
Why Blackpool Carers?
Unpaid carers are the unsung heroes of our community. They look after ill or aging parents, siblings with disabilities, or partners with long-term illnesses. Without them, our local health services would be overwhelmed.
We are here to make sure they don't reach breaking point. We provide the support, the breaks, and the community they need to keep going.
How to Take Part:
Go Dry: Commit to a month without alcohol.
Track Your Savings: Every time you skip a drink, 'bank' that fiver or tenner.
Donate: Hit the 'Give Now' button on this page to settle your tab for a great cause!
Let’s show that Blackpool’s spirit is just as strong without the spirits.
Thank you for your incredible support.
