Swim for SCB: 1,998 Lengths for 1998

SCB trainees Ethan, Carson, Neil, Zak, Tom and Sam, along with other SCB members of Crewe Seahorses, are aiming to swim 1,998 lengths to mark SCB’s founding in 1998. Please sponsor them and support SCB!

At SCB, we help individuals grow in confidence, build real-world skills, and find purpose in everyday achievements. We believe everyone deserves a place to feel safe, supported, and included. We champion ability over disability through meaningful activities in an inclusive and supportive environment

Story

At Supported Community Business (SCB), we believe in creating opportunities, building confidence and helping adults with additional needs develop skills for life. This summer, a group of our trainees are stepping up to give something back.

Together, Ethan, Carson, Neil, Zak, Tom and Sam, along with other SCB members of Crewe Seahorses Swimming Club, are taking on a special fundraising challenge.

Their goal is to swim an incredible 1,998 lengths of a 25-metre pool — a target chosen to mark the year SCB was founded in 1998.

Crewe Seahorses has been a huge part of many of our trainees’ lives for years, giving them friendship, fitness, confidence and a sense of achievement through swimming. With the support and encouragement of Chief Instructor Gareth Roberts, this challenge is a chance for them to give something back to SCB — another place that has played an important part in their lives.

For Ethan, swimming is about fun and friendship, while SCB is helping him build skills for the future.

Zak enjoys pushing himself alongside his friends and says SCB is a great community.

Neil loves the physical exercise and enjoys seeing familiar faces both at swimming and at SCB.

Carson is especially passionate about fundraising and says: “Our aim is to raise as much as possible so SCB can buy and organise nice things for the other trainees.”

The challenge begins on Thursday 18th June and will continue over the coming weeks until the team reaches their 1,998-length target. A special thank you also goes to Debbie Murray, who will be keeping count and helping everyone stay on track.

Every penny raised will go directly to SCB to help us continue providing meaningful activities, learning opportunities and support for adults with additional needs.

Please support them if you can. Every donation, big or small, will make a real difference.

Thank you.
