Story

Spooky Welly Walk is excited to celebrate 14 years of Halloween fun at Sefton Park, Liverpool! This annual event is packed with a variety of activities that will allow little monsters to explore, play, and let their imaginations run wild.

We invite all our Spooky Welly Walkers to get fundraising by asking family and friends to sponsor your little monsters’ efforts. It’s a long way for those little legs and a physical day for the grown-ups too. This is a great opportunity for kids to discover the joy of fundraising to make a real difference to families affected by lung cancer.

As a special thank you, little monsters who raise £50 or more will receive a goody bag on the day, filled with surprises! This includes a Golden Ticket for one of the paid activity stations, a sweet treat, and a couple of extra goodies. Plus, every fundraiser will be awarded a personalized Spooky Welly Walk certificate in recognition of their kindness and generosity.

While Spooky Welly Walk is a day full of fun and excitement, it also serves a greater purpose. We host this event to raise vital funds to support everyone affected by lung cancer. Your participation and fundraising efforts help us make a meaningful impact in the fight against this disease.

By fundraising, you're helping people like Ian who was diagnosed with lung cancer though a local screening programme supported by Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation. Thankfully Ian’s cancer was caught early.

“When I was diagnosed with lung cancer, my aim was to make it to my youngest daughter’s wedding. Now, I want to see my grandchildren get married.

There’s no reason why not. It’s probably more realistic than my other dream of seeing Everton win the league!

I was first invited for a lung health check a few years ago. On my third visit, the scan showed a small nodule. A PET scan confirmed the worst: it was cancer. It had spread to my tonsils and was in my lymph nodes too.

But here’s the thing — if I hadn’t gone for screening, I wouldn’t have known anything until it was much too late. Because my cancer was caught relatively early, I still had good treatment options. That gave me hope.

I’m now in remission and I truly believe I have Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation to thank for that. The charity has played such an important role in making screening available. Without it, I might not be here today.

They gave me a chance to have a longer, happier life. I’ll always be grateful for that.”

Money raised from Spooky Welly Walk, which is one of my grandchildren’s favourite events, will help save more people like me. Please, if you can, support this wonderful charity by asking family and friends to sponsor you - you really could save a life.
