We've all seen the devastation that plastic waste can cause to ocean environments and marine wildlife: seals tangled in nets, turtles choking on plastic bags, whales with bellies full of rubbish. And these are only the tip of the iceberg. As plastics are now being found in the food we eat and in our bodies, cleaning up the ocean is more important than ever. Only 12% of UK plastic waste is recycled and 60% is shipped abroad - to places like Indonesia where it is burnt or ends up in rivers and our oceans.

We are a small UK charity operating in Indonesia - the world's second largest polluter of ocean plastic due to its poor waste management systems. We work with local Indonesian communities to set up 'waste banks': local village recycling centres which handle plastic and other waste in a responsible way.
