Through our Talent Bonds Grants Programme, we provide grants of up to £300 directly to young people in Foyers, helping them pursue opportunities that develop their talents, skills, and ambitions.
Our ‘Talent Bonds’ programme aims to level the playing field so young people can realise their power and purpose.
Talent Bonds are small but impactful grants designed to help young people living in Foyers pursue opportunities that develop their talents, skills, and ambitions. These grants, which offer up to £300, can fund training, equipment, and experiences that nurture individual potential and empower young people to flourish. Many of the young people in our network have boundless talent and potential but lack the financial support from family or community to access such opportunities, making Talent Bonds a critical resource for their growth.
Uniquely, a panel of young experts with lived experience of Foyers assesses applications, the panel works together to decide how the money should be allocated, a process that puts real financial decision making power into the hands of young people. Successful applicants could be from a Foyer anywhere across the country. The Foyer Federation will work with local Foyers to encourage grantees in their pursuits and invite them to share their progress with us.
Impact so far:
To date, 72 Talent Bonds have been awarded to young people, supporting a wide range of initiatives, from launching businesses to pursuing creative projects. These investments underscore our belief that empowering the next generation benefits society as a whole. Additionally, 20 young people have been entrusted with decision-making responsibilities, demonstrating their capability and leadership.
Previous Talent Bonds have paid towards:
- Books and equipment for a new mum to work on her baking and cake decorating, both to build skills and to deepen her connections with her family.
- Camera and filming equipment for two young people to pursue careers in filmmaking, editing and production.
- Funding for a new bike for two young people who had theirs stolen and require them to get to college and work, and to live independently.
- Art and design supplies to create work and build a portfolio to apply for an art and design course at college.
