Why We're Running for Tamworth Samaritans

Every day, people in our community face challenges that can feel overwhelming. Loneliness, anxiety, depression, relationship breakdowns, financial worries, bereavement and thoughts of suicide can leave people feeling that there is nowhere to turn.

Tamworth Samaritans is here to make sure that nobody has to face those feelings alone.

Our branch is staffed by around 80 dedicated volunteers who provide a safe, confidential and non-judgemental listening service, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Last year alone, our volunteers responded to more than 10,000 calls and emails from people in emotional distress across Tamworth, Lichfield, Burton and the surrounding areas.

Unlike many organisations, Tamworth Samaritans receives no government funding. As an independent local charity, we rely entirely on donations, fundraising events and the generosity of our community to keep our doors open and our phones answered.

By taking part in the Tamworth 10K, our runners are helping to ensure that someone struggling at 2am can still find a compassionate voice at the end of the phone. Every pound raised helps us train volunteers, maintain our branch and continue providing lifesaving emotional support to those who need it most.
