Tahira Animal Welfare Foundation is always home to hundreds of rescued animals who depend on us every single day for food, water, shelter, medical treatment, recovery care and lifelong protection.

Many of these animals came to us injured, abused, abandoned, disabled, elderly, orphaned or in desperate need of help. For them, reliable electricity is not a luxury. It keeps our shelter, medical facilities, water systems, food preparation, fans, lighting and daily sanctuary operations running safely.

At the moment, we face long daily grid outages and rapidly increasing electricity costs. We already have a very small solar system, but it only supports around 10% of our daily electricity load. It helps during emergencies, but it is not enough to protect hundreds of rescued animals during extreme heat or to keep essential shelter and medical work running through long power cuts.

What could we do?

We want to install 32 solar panels on our shelter roof.

This new system will generate more than 70% of the electricity we need daily to run our shelter, medical facilities and sanctuary supplies.

It will help us:

● reduce our carbon footprint by around 7.5 tonnes every year

● create an environmental impact equal to planting around 350 trees annually

● save approximately £4,500–£6,000 every year on electricity bills

● reduce our dependence on unreliable grid electricity

● keep essential care running during long outages

● redirect electricity savings towards food, medicines, TNVR, rescue and rehabilitation

TAWF is already deeply committed to protecting the environment. At our 2.5-acre sanctuary, we have planted more than 300 trees and also recharging every litre of rainwater back into the groundwater.

Installing this solar system is our next step towards making the sanctuary greener, stronger and more sustainable for the animals who depend on us.

What would it cost?

We need to raise £9,500 to install the solar system.

This will help cover:

● 36 solar panels

● solar inverter

● wiring and installation

● roof mounting structure

● labour and setup costs

● essential system materials

Every pound raised will bring us closer to another panel on the roof, another metre of wiring, another hour of installation work, and another step towards reliable power for rescued animals.
