At The Children's Place, all children are invited simply to be kids. Many of the children who walk through our front doors have experienced some of the worst that life has to offer, including abuse, neglect, being removed from their biological family's care and more. The Children's Place welcomes these little ones in and offers the mental health services they need to heal. Childhood is restored.

Malia is one of these children who entered our Day Treatment program after being removed from her mother's care when she endured multiple traumatic events. Malia's behaviors had led to her expulsion from multiple daycares, and when she started at The Children's Place, she would avoid participating in classroom activities or interacting with the other kids.

Malia spent more than two years in our Day Treatment program, receiving multiple types of mental health therapy and consistent care and education. Malia is now curious about the world and loves playing with the friends she's met at The Children's Place. Next fall she will be heading to kindergarten, ready to succeed and take on the world.
