On Wednesday we were asked if we could help this handsome boy after he was involved in a road traffic accident. He wasn't microchipped, wasn't neutered and nobody has come forward to claim him.

The honest truth? We are absolutely not in a financial position to take on another major case right now.

But the alternative for Smokey was euthanasia.

His X-rays revealed multiple serious injuries including:

💔 A displaced sacroiliac fracture/luxation

💔 A significantly displaced fracture of the right ischium

💔 Fractures of the pelvic floor

💔 Concerns for a possible avulsion of the prepubic tendon and abdominal wall injury

Despite everything, Smokey has remained incredibly sweet and gentle throughout.

Today he is on his way to referral for specialist assessment so we can find out exactly what treatment he needs and whether surgery can give him the future he deserves.

At the same time, our incredible supporter Lee has just set off on his fundraising walk to raise money for cats like Smokey. We couldn't be more grateful for people like Lee who help us say "yes" when every sensible financial decision says "no".
