Teachers Mountain climb - Rock the Ridge !

Thirteen intrepid Chippy Teachers will attempt a full thirteen-mile circuit of the Pen y Fan peak (Brecon Beacons, South Wales) on Saturday 28th June, helping raise money for our covered outdoor space. The route is used to train Royal Marines!

The CNS Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is a registered charity #1191915, run by a small but active committee that rallies our community support to help pay for things that benefit pupils which fall outside of the school’s budget. Each year we fundraise in a number of ways. Regular initiatives include the Christmas raffle, providing refreshments at school performances, Chastleton House bake sales and the treasure hunts.

Story

Maths teacher, Mr Chris White, has organised a band of 13 merry Chipping Norton teachers (including headteacher Mr Doherty) to climb the 886 metre high Pen y Fan peak, the highest in South Wales !

This 13 mile route / mountain half-marathon, is often used to train the Royal Marines, so it is no mean feat. Training is underway, blister plasters are packed, and the foot spa has been ordered.

They start their ascent on Saturday 28th June 2025.

After a long week of work they are going above and beyond to help raise funds towards the schools campaign for a massive covered outdoor area to be used by all , all year long. Providing a much needed area for breaktime, sports, lessons and more, regardless of the British weather!
