Story
This year, September 14th marks a big milestone for our founder, Gayle and for all of us at A Child of Mine. It's the day her son Lewis, would have celebrated his 18th birthday. Eighteen years – moving into adulthood, a time of independence, and endless possibility. But for Lewis, that future was tragically cut short by an aggressive childhood cancer just before his 3rd birthday. His death highlighted a large unmet need which resulted in the charity being established and now we strive to address and support other bereaved families with information, guidance and support.
"When you lose a child, a piece of your heart goes with them," Gayle often says. "But Lewis' memory isn't just about loss; it's about the love that remains, and the hope that we can offer to others."
To honour Lewis's 18th birthday and to continue the vital work of A Child of Mine, 'Team Lewis' is lacing up their running shoes for the Stafford 10k. Just one week after what would have been Lewis' 18th Birthday, on September 21st, we will run together for every family that needs our support.
Every pound raised, every share, every step taken, really does help us continue to offer a lifeline to families going through the unimaginable pain of losing a child or baby. Together, we can ensure Lewis's legacy continues to shine and we can offer vital support to those who need it most. Thank you for supporting "Team Lewis' and helping us to make a difference.
