Welcome to Team Save, Tokyo Marathon 2027!

This year we have a team of 5 dedicated Save the Children runners taking part in this epic event!

In over 100 countries (including the UK), we support children to transform their lives. With global Save the Children members, our shared ambition is that by 2030;

- no child dies from preventable causes before their fifth birthday

- all children learn from a quality basic education

- violence against children is no longer tolerated.

By providing live-saving short-term help, and pushing for deep-rooted social change, we help children take their future into their own hands.

Thanks to your support, together we can help children to get the future they deserve. Children like Selma*,14, who lives in Ethiopia’s Somali region where female genital mutilation (FGM) – and other harmful traditional practices such as child marriage – have been all too common.

But today she’s part of a Save the Children-supported Child Club, where she and her peers are learning to become powerful campaigners for girls’ rights.

One of the ways they spread the message is using theatre and street drama. Selma has helped to write these performances and stars in them too.

Since the programme launched in 2020, FGM rates in Selma’s community have plummeted. Child marriage is in sharp decline too, with more girls now staying in school and pursuing their education.

But Selma doesn’t want to stop there.
