Meet Amanda

Amanda is riding RAGBRAI with Team Peacock! She joined the team in 2018, and this will be her 8th ride. A proud UIU alum, Amanda owns Barks & Wags Pet Service, a dog daycare, grooming, and boarding business she runs with her husband Jon and their team. Their motto: “Our passion is pooches.” When she’s not caring for dogs, Amanda enjoys biking, hiking, reading, movies, and cooking (but not baking!).

Amanda Rides for Campus Safety

Twenty-seven dedicated Facilities employees quietly care for 141 acres, 29 buildings, and more than 674,000 square feet at Upper Iowa University.

They’re the reason classrooms are warm in January, sidewalks are safe in winter, and the campus looks beautiful every spring. Most of their work happens before anyone even notices something that needs fixing. This year, Team Peacock is raising funds for a tool that will make their work safer and more efficient. The Need: A ProPress Tool. Many plumbing repairs currently require a torch, which means fire watches, temporary alarm shutdowns, and increased safety risks.

A Milwaukee M12 Force Logic Press Tool allows copper pipe repairs to be completed without a torch, making repairs faster, safer, and more efficient across campus.

No flames.
