I’m riding RAGBRAI as part of Team Peacock to support the powerhouse that is the Upper Iowa University women’s wrestling team.

These athletes do push-ups like they’re powered by NASA, run Harms-Eischeid stadium stairs for fun, and could fold me into a fitted sheet with hospital corners in thirty seconds or less. The team is strong, fierce, disciplined, and represents the best of UIU with grit, heart, and dedication.

As a UIU Galactic Evangelist (and proud alum) whose most aggressive activity is competitive crocheting, my athletic résumé includes being hit by a truck, accidentally setting my hair on fire, getting my hand stuck in a typewriter, and most recently breaking three ribs while walking through an airport. Safe to say, the team is not actively recruiting me and likely prefers I support them from a safe distance — which I am more than happy to do by raising funds for the program.

While the team trains like champions, I’ll be pedaling my one-ring circus across Iowa with some of the best people on Earth, while spreading the gospel of TEAM PEACOCK far and wide — and hopefully, with as little collateral damage as possible.
