This summer, two dedicated members of the President’s Office at Upper Iowa University will take to the road as part of Team Peacock during RAGBRAI (Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa). As Team Peacock celebrates its 22nd year riding across Iowa, riders continue to pedal with a purpose, raising funds that directly support initiatives and scholarships that impact UIU students.

Among this year’s riders are UIU President Kathy Franken ‘12 and Executive Assistant to the President Holly Wolff ’10 & ‘23, both of whom share a deep commitment to the university and the students it serves.

Kathy Franken was named Upper Iowa University’s 22nd President and Chief Financial Officer in October 2023 after serving as Interim President beginning in May 2023. Her journey at UIU began in 2008 at the Waterloo Center as an academic advisor for adult learners before becoming Center Director. Over the years, Kathy has held several leadership roles, including Vice President for distance education recruitment and operations and later Vice President for Finance and Enrollment Management, overseeing university finances, facilities, IT, enrollment services, and auxiliary operations.

Kathy holds a B.A. from Wartburg College and a master’s degree in Higher Education Administration from Upper Iowa University and brings more than 25 years of experience in higher education.

Joining Kathy on the ride is alum Holly Wolff, Executive Assistant to the President and Assistant Secretary of the Board of Trustees. Holly has been a member of the UIU family since 2005, first working in Facilities Management and Events Management before transitioning to the Office of the President in 2012. In her current role, she manages the day-to-day operations of the President’s Office, coordinates the Board of Trustees, and manages the UIU Campus Store.

Holly and her husband, Tim ’16, have been riding with Team Peacock since 2006, raising funds to support student scholarships and university initiatives.

Kathy and Holly have chosen to ride for the Military Family Fund.

While RAGBRAI is known for its fun and camaraderie, Team Peacock riders are driven by a shared mission to support the success of Upper Iowa University students.
