Teddington & Hampton Wick Voluntary Care Group

Our 40 volunteers help about 220 elderly, housebound and disabled people in the Teddington and Hampton Wick area to help them live independent lives in the community. We offer shopping trips, run errands, transport to appointments, and many outings.

We are a group of around 40 volunteers and we help about 220 elderly, housebound and disabled in the Teddington and Hampton Wick area. Some people just need a little help to maintain an active life - that's what we do. And with just a small donation from you, we can make a huge difference, thank you

Story

Our story started 50 years ago when a local resident, Douglas Brown, was temporarily housebound during an illness. His neighbours rallied round and he realised everyone needed a little helping hand when in need. So he set up a network of people willing to do errands for others. He was eventually awarded an MBE for his efforts. Today, we continue with Douglas' aim to support the community. We look after those in need by taking them to appointments, help with shopping and arrange social events. If you are able to give just a little contribution, we will continue to support those less able in our community to live happy, independent lives. Thank you!
