**Update: we have reached our original target, but displaced people in Calais need your help now more than ever - please continue to donate if you can.**
Last year, almost 2,000 tents left behind at festival sites were cleaned and refurbished so they could be used by charities like Help Refugees and Care4Calais to provide shelter to displaced people living around Calais during the cold, wet winter months.
The cancellation of festivals due to Covid-19 has left charities almost 2,000 tents short of their usual numbers - a huge blow to their ability to provide shelter for vulnerable people in the Calais area this winter.
We are delighted to have hit our target to raise £200 for the charity Help Refugees, who will use it to purchase tents. However since our campaign was launched, the situation in Calais has worsened. The largest mass-eviction since the destruction of the Calais Jungle in 2016 has taken place, resulting in families being left without food, blankets or shelter. Any funds we raise over and above our original £200 target will be donated to Care4Calais, to allow them to purchase tents and other vital supplies for displaced people in the region.
A tent costs just £12, and every tent we fund means another family will have somewhere dry to shelter from the elements this winter.
