Walking 1,000 Miles to Tackle Loneliness
This April, we are collectively walking 1,000 miles, the full length of Great Britain from Land’s End to John O’Groats.
But this is not really about distance.
It is about connection.
Across the month, supporters will log their miles wherever they are. Every step taken moves us further north and closer to our shared goal of tackling loneliness in our communities.
Why This Matters
"My volunteer and her dog give me something to look forward to every week. I feel less lonely, more confident getting out of the house, and my health has improved because I’m walking regularly again.”

Loneliness affects confidence, wellbeing and independence. For many older people, the days can become quiet, repetitive and disconnected.
A simple weekly walk changes that.
A conversation.
A familiar face.
A reason to leave the house.
CareDogs connects people experiencing loneliness with human and canine companionship through safe, supported community walks and befriending.
It is simple. It is local. And it works.
