WALK AND RAISE FUNDS FOR TREATMENT BAG, October 2023

How it all began: One of our trustees was sitting in hospital, through the many hours of the grim-but-necessary chemotherapy, in a room with several other strangers, each having their treatment that day. The room was quiet - most patients not even making eye contact, but lost in their own thoughts and feelings. After half an hour or so a local apple farmer walked in to have his latest treatment, still in wellies and sporting a few strands of straw but with several carrier bags over his arm, each full of apples. A man of few words, he silently walked around the room handing every patient a bag before taking his position ready for his next round of medication. The atmosphere in the room was instantly changed to one of hope and generosity and the kernel of the idea of Treatment Bag was formed.
