It costs £74 for Woman's Trust to deliver one session of trauma-informed specialist counselling to a woman who has experienced domestic abuse. We offer up to 18 free sessions of counselling to each woman that accesses our services.
We need support to continue this life-saving work.
Not sure what to do? You could create a non-stop danceathon for 74 minutes. Try your hand at hula hooping? Get your friends to join in. How about knitting every day that week for 74 minutes or turning off all your devices for 74 minutes each day? All of these things are good for your mental health too.
If you have a business, you could donate 7.4% of your profits for the week? Or get together with 74 members of your team for a fundraising coffee morning.
Woman's Trust is the largest provider of specialist mental health counselling for survivors of domestic abuse in London. The Trust is calling for greater awareness of the huge impact that domestic abuse has on women's mental health, this mental health awareness week (May 15-21).
One in four women will experience domestic abuse in their adult lifetime. Without help, the mental health impacts of domestic abuse can last decades and can be life-long and sometimes life threatening. Domestic Abuse can cause low self-esteem, post-traumatic stress, depression and suicidal thoughts.
Woman's Trust was established in 1996 and since then has helped over 18,000 women rebuild their mental health from the effects of domestic abuse.
