With your generous support, we have reached our target of £1750, meaning that 550 Story Packs will be going to vulnerable families in Devon. Thank you so much!
If you haven't yet made a donation, but would like to, we can still find plenty of homes for more packs. Every £3.50 will pay for one more pack. Anything you are able to give will be very gratefully received. We have until the 15th August. Let's see how many children we can provide a pack for!
We've been absolutely overwhelmed by the level of support that the project has attracted. Within just a week we've exceeded our target meaning that 400 vulnerable children in our home city of Exeter will be receiving a special Story Pack. The enthusiasm and generosity you've shown has allowed us to consider what more we can do. By the 15th of August we would love to reach another 150 families and go beyond Exeter into wider Devon. So we've dared to add another £525 to our target in the hope that we can provide Story Packs for even more children in the South West.
If you haven't yet contributed and would like to do so we'd be extremely grateful. To everyone who has donated so far - your kindness is allowing us to dream bigger. Thank you.
We're raising money for special Story Packs to be given to vulnerable children in our home city of Exeter. These packs will be distributed via schools and foodbanks to those particularly hard-hit by the effects of the pandemic. At a time when many children are suffering real hardship and isolation, stories and imaginative play can be a precious lifeline.
As a company who are usually in the business of creating high quality theatre for children in primary schools, when the pandemic struck we wanted to do whatever we could to help young people who were struggling. We created digital resources for schools, which were received with great enthusiasm and were a real support to many. But we were painfully aware that many children have very little or no online access - such a difficult thing at a time when so much is only being made available digitally. And so the idea of a Story Pack was born. Each pack would contain a special book and everything needed for a creative activity. Our Designer, Trina Bramman created a kit to make a fantastic flying bird puppet and our Associate Writer, Daniel Jamieson, penned a wonderful story about the little bird, which was beautifully illustrated by Trina. Included in the pack are colouring pencils and glue and child friendly scissors. And we've left a few pages of the story book blank for children to draw and write their own stories.
We began by creating 50 story packs. However, there has been such extraordinary interest in the scheme from local food banks and schools that it's clear many more families in the city, who are having a hard time, would benefit enormously from receiving a pack. And that's where you come in. With your help we can create and distribute another 350 story packs. We've set ourselves the target of raising £1225 in the next month. Every £3.50 you contribute will pay for a story pack to reach a vulnerable family.
Here is Nikki, our Artistic Director, to tell you a little more about what we've been up to and what you can do to help.
With your help we can get these story packs out to the children in Exeter who need them most - thank you so much for your support.
Wishing you the best,
From everyone at Theatre Alibi
