Story

The Big Hoot is a spectacular public art event that takes place in Chichester and Arundel in the summer of 2024.

The parliament of 30 large owls - each one individually designed by an artist and sponsored by a business – nest outside, forming a free, fun, family-friendly trail of discovery for people of all ages to enjoy.

In addition there is a parliament of smaller owl sculptures – The Little Hoots – decorated by local schools, colleges and community youth groups.

As well as being great fun, the art trail will help to raise vital funds for your local children’s hospice, Chestnut Tree House.

Whether you are holding a bake sale, knitting your own parliament of owls, holding a wise owl quiz, or completing the trail in the wackiest way possible, we would love you to join The Big Hoot and get fundraising for Chestnut Tree House!

By getting involved, you’re helping us to be there for children and young people with life-limiting conditions – and their families – across East and West Sussex and South East Hampshire.

About the charity

Chestnut Tree House is the children’s hospice for East Sussex, West Sussex, Brighton and Hove and South East Hampshire, caring for 300 children and young adults from 0-19 years of age every year, both at the hospice and in families’ own homes.
