About us
At Social Link, we work with adults with learning disabilities in Wycombe, Aylesbury and the surrounding area to promote independence, encourage social interaction and provide a safe environment to make genuine friendships.
Turning disabilities into abilities - our approach is to help our members, all of whom have a disability, focus on what they can achieve and not limitations. Our members have a broad range of abilities but each day we see them taking on new challenges with confidence and enthusiasm.
“The BIG Trek” - Mount Snowdon Challenge: 7th – 9th June 2024
14 Social Link members and staff, including our CEO, Wendy, are embarking on a remarkable journey, to conquer the highest peak in Wales, Yr Wyddfa, aka Mount Snowdon. Training walks are already underway in preparation for the 9-mile return journey along the Llanberis Path. For some of our Trekkers this will be the first time venturing up a mountain or covering such a long distance. But all our Trekkers are very excited and keen to put on their walking boots and backpacks and get trekking!
Get involved!
We would love it if everybody at Social Link got involved, so we are inviting all our members to join in too by walking the same distance as our Mountain Trekkers. Members will be able go out on regular scheduled walks with our Team and will record the distance they have covered using pedometers. Members will be able to track their own progress over a number of weeks until they have reached their target of matching the Snowdon climb distance. We hope that all our members will get an enormous sense of pride in completing the task while helping our charity to raise money at the same time.
By making a donation or sponsoring one of our members, you are directly contributing to the empowerment of individuals with learning disabilities. This adventure is not just about conquering a mountain it also symbolises overcoming obstacles and striving for inclusivity and support for those with learning disabilities.
