- The UK alone spends around £1.6 BILLION each year on Christmas cards.

- 30,000 tons of Christmas cards are thrown away every year in the UK alone.

- All the Christmas cards thrown out is equivalent to £2.8 million worth of landfill

- Currently, just one in four Christmas cards are recycled.

- One tree can be turned into 3,000 Christmas cards. With around 8 billion cards sent annually, that's goodbye to some 2.6 million trees

How can you help?

This year, consider donating the amount you would normally spend on stamps and greeting cards (typically we spend around £1.50 per person, allowing for a second class stamp and a card from a multipack) to KHULA Education. Once you have donated, please email iona@khula.org.uk to receive your e-gift card which can be sent by email or WhatsApp to friends and family with your personalised message.

All funds received will contribute to our work to provide quality education and improved outcomes for children and young people living in marginalised, rural communities in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.
