Story
I Don’t Want to Be Here Anymore.”
These are words many children and young people tell us.
At The Life Matters (Charity No. 1193469), we support vulnerable children and young people who are struggling with suicidal thoughts, self-harm, trauma and emotional distress.
The Difference Your Support Makes
2025 Outcomes – 3rd Cohort
Through our 10-week, one-to-one A Child’s Voice intervention programme delivered across five schools in Kent & Medway (ages 11–18), we have seen life-changing results:
95% reduction in self-harm incidents
95% reduction in suicidal thoughts
Suicide attempts completely eliminated
Children returning to school, rebuilding confidence and finding hope again
Real Children. Real Change.
An 8-year-old boy had tried to hang himself numerous times.
Through intensive one-to-one support and holistic family assessment, we helped him feel safe again. He returned to school, made friends and has made no further attempts. He was also supported to secure his Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and signposted for further diagnostic assessment.
A 15-year-old girl was self-harming her face with blades. She told us she felt she had no value and said, “No one has listened to me before.”
Through the A Child’s Voice programme, she committed to herself, received the right support, stopped self-harming and returned to education.
