Story
The Long Table Compassion Ministry at Redeemer Central
At Redeemer Central, our Compassion Ministry brings together several long-standing ministries that share one simple goal — to extend the love and welcome of Jesus in the heart of Belfast.
Based at 101 Donegall Street, right in the Cathedral Quarter beside Ulster University, our vision is to serve our parish and beyond by offering hospitality, dignity, and hope. The heartbeat of our work is simple:
“There’s always room at the table of Jesus for one more.”
We’re so grateful for your support — it makes everything we do possible.

The Long Table
Every Friday, 6–7pm ∙ 101 Donegall Street, Belfast

The Long Table is a free community meal every week, created to be a safe and welcoming place for all, regardless of social or financial background, and foster community over lovingly-prepared food.
Each week our meals are prepared by our team of volunteers, including vegan and meat options, with surplus food made available for anyone to take home.

The Long Table has formed brilliant partnerships with FareShare and Tesco’s Community Food Connection scheme.
“Working with community groups such as the Redeemer Central church to help them get the food they need is such an important service for us to be able to provide. The dedication they have to their community is amazing, and we are pleased to do what we can to support. We firmly believe no good food should go to waste, which is why we began our Community Food Connection scheme. It enables us to ensure our surplus food is put to good use in communities" — Claire De Silva, Tesco Head of Community
You’ll find us in the heart of Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter at 101 Donegall Street (beside Ulster University) every Friday from 6-7pm, serving delicious food to anyone who drops in. Come and join us at the table, there’s a place for everyone! We look forward to seeing you.

The 101 Kitchen
Thanks to a fantastic fundraising campaign and the generosity of local sponsors and charities, we’ve transformed our kitchen at 101 into a professional-grade community kitchen — the heart of The Long Table.

Every Friday, our volunteers cook and serve meals for around 40 guests, with plans to grow the service further. Many of those who first came for a meal now join our Sunday gatherings — a beautiful picture of belonging and community.
We’re deeply grateful to our funders and supporters, including: Awards for All, Sainsbury’s, TBF Thompson, Ardbarron Trust, North Belfast Heritage Cluster, Redeemer Central, and our wider community.
Friday Lunches
In September 2025 during Friday lunchtimes we began serving homemade soup on the streets around 101 Donegall Street — especially to those experiencing homelessness.
These encounters have quickly become real moments of connection and an opportunity to hear peoples stories and invite many into community at The Long Table.
“It’s been humbling to see how open people are — and how much they want to share their story.” — Stephanie Wilson, Compassion Co-Ordinator at Redeemer Central

Rucksacks of Care
Thanks to a grant from the Belfast Cathedral’s Black Santa Appeal, we’ve been able to create rucksacks of care — each one filled with essential items like sleeping bags, mats, toiletries, and water bottles — for those sleeping rough on Belfast’s streets.
Already, these simple packs have brought comfort and dignity to several people we’ve met, and we hope to continue expanding this vital outreach.

Thanks for all your Support
We continue to listen, learn and dream about what else might be possible as we tell better stories on Donegall Street. Whether you are an individual, organisation or funder, your generosity helps so much and we appreciate all your support.
🙏 Give today to support our Compassion Ministry — and help us extend the love and welcome of Jesus across our city.
