Training at London Seminary is taught by lifelong pastors for the next generation of preachers and leaders. Rigorous learning is combined with a rich community life of genuine loving personal relationships and the careful application of Biblical truth to today’s complex world.

Story

I am writing with a special appeal for a new student at London Seminary. “Luke” (not his real name) is a Kurdish refugee from Syria, who lives in Iraq. He has applied to take the Seminary course remotely. Luke is very gifted, speaking Kurdish, Arabic and English fluently. He was baptised and discipled by a British church planter in Iraq, who gives this commendation:

"I first met 'Luke' as a young believer and my wife and I discipled him and his wife (who in time followed him in coming to the Lord) closely in their walk with the Lord. It became clear Luke had a great hunger to study God's Word carefully. He grew to know the Scriptures well, and it was a particular joy to me that he developed a love for the Scriptures in his mother tongue, Kurmanji, even though he is fluent in Arabic and now English. He learnt to be discerning from the beginning, because there was plenty of distorted teaching among churches and mission groups, and a persistent problem with unbiblical use of money in mission work where we were in Iraq. I commend Luke as one who would be helped to serve the church even better by training at London Seminary. He has shown real humility in serving the gospel in Iraq and a willingness both to teach true doctrine and correct error.Luke already has a fruitful evangelistic and discipleship ministry amongst Kurdish and Arabic speakers, and has preached through Romans which clarified his doctrinal convictions."

We had hoped that it might be possible for Luke to study part-time, alongside his tutoring and translation work to support his family. However this proved impossible because the timing of the lectures clashes with his tutoring commitments. It will be possible for him to study full-time if we are able to raise £5,000pa to support him and his family (£ 10,000 in total).

This is a strategic opportunity to serve the cause of Christ’s Kingdom both in Iraq, and more widely. If you are able to support Luke, please give a gift today.

We hope it will be possible for him to commence his studies with us in September. If we receive more funds than are needed for his personal support, we will use them to contribute towards his tuition fees, and online books and other resources to help him with his studies.

Many thanks for your fellowship in this.
