Story

Penny is aged 8 years old and suffered a severe regression at age 2 years old. She has a rare neuro developmental condition which has resulted in her being non speaking, sight impairment, and severe apraxia which makes daily life extremely challenging without support.

Penny benefits from regular therapy breaks and retreats like these stated below.

Penny thrives in environments surrounded by forests, lakes, and wildlife which provides a sensory-friendly natural environment that can help with grounding and emotional regulation. These natural setting can be calming and restorative.

Penny benefits from activities like adaptive bike rides, swimming, or nature walks can offer meaningful connection with children without overwhelming social demands of group or independent involvement.

Penny is an excellent swimmer even with all her challenges and thrives in the water either in sea or swimming pool. Penny would benefit from breaks that have close access to swimming access. Water can provide calming deep pressure and even sensory input, which may help reduce overstimulation or anxiety. Swimming helps improve Pennys gross motor skills, balance, and coordination.

Penny is a thrill seeker and loves theme parks. Due to her brain regression

her body thrives on sensory seeking movement. She actively enjoys the strong sensations like fast movement, Wind and pressure on the body and loud sounds and bright visuals. This creates feelings of joy, thrill and emotional release — similar to stimming behaviors. The smooth, repetitive turns and loops can be soothing or satisfying, much like rocking or spinning.

We would like to raise money for these type of breaks for Penny and one carer to enjoy. We want Penny to access the world as much as possible in an adaptive way that supports her rehabilitation and needs.
