Story
60 Years of Dreaming
Do You See Us? Do You Hear Us?
For most people, a football song is just a football song.
For the members of the Shaw Centre, "60 Years of Dreaming" is something much bigger.
It is a chance to be creative. A chance to be heard. A chance to show the world what people with learning disabilities can achieve.
As England prepares for the 2026 World Cup, our members have written, recorded and performed their own original football anthem, celebrating 60 years since England's famous World Cup victory in 1966.
The project has brought smiles, laughter, confidence and a huge sense of pride. Many of our members never imagined they would one day record a song, appear in a music video or have thousands of people listening to something they helped create.
Yet here they are.
Singing.
Performing.
Creating.
Achieving.
More Than Just a Day Centre
The Shaw Centre supports adults with learning disabilities to live fuller, happier and more connected lives.
We believe everyone deserves opportunities, experiences and memories.
We want our members to enjoy the very best that life has to offer.
That means exciting days out.
It means holidays and trips.
It means Christmas parties, summer celebrations and special events.
It means making memories with friends.
It means laughter, adventure and belonging.
Most importantly, it means ensuring that the people we support have opportunities that many of us take for granted.
Why We Need Your Help
The reality is that many adults with learning disabilities face loneliness, isolation and limited opportunities.
At the Shaw Centre we work hard every day to change that.
Funds raised through this campaign will help us continue providing meaningful activities and unforgettable experiences for our members.
Your support could help fund:
• Days out and community trips
• Parties and celebrations
• Music and creative arts projects
• Social activities and events
• Equipment and resources
• New opportunities to learn, grow and have fun
We want our members to have the best experiences possible because they deserve nothing less.
What Our Members Say
