MMF Thompson Fund

Organised by Mamie Martin Fund

Jack and Phyllis Thompson arrived in Malawi in 1970 when Jack was appointed as a teacher at Livingstonia Secondary School and they both became fully involved in the life of the CCAP Synod of Livingstonia. MMF is proud to host this fund in their name.

We work with partner schools in North Malawi to support girls at 7 secondary schools. We pay the fees of these girls along with providing additional help for necessities so that they can benefit from their school place. We've been working there since 1993, taking forward the vision of Mamie Martin.

Story

Through classroom teaching, historical research, postgraduate supervision, educational leadership and, above all, through the friendships they formed with Malawian colleagues and students, Jack and Phyllis Thompson made an impact that will long be cherished. Jack died in 2017 and Phyllis in 2018, their loss greatly mourned both in Malawi and in the UK.

The Mamie Martin Fund is honoured to host and manage this fund . Visit our website for more information about us.
