Threads of Warmth: Gaza Winter Appeal

As winter approaches, families in Gaza face devastating conditions, without safe shelter, heating, or warm clothing. Our campaign will raise funds for aid in Gaza and offer handcrafted items to local communities facing poverty in Scotland.

WSREC envision an equal and human rights based society, where everyone is valued and can take an active role. We aim to support vulnerable communities to eliminate discrimination, educate them on their rights and remove barriers to build a fair and just society.

Story

Together, we stitch warmth where it’s needed most — both near and far.

Join Us!

By knitting, sewing and crocheting together, we’re transforming compassion into action, crafting warmth and hope for people living through unimaginable hardship.

Every stitch, every donation, and every act of community support is a reminder that they are not forgotten.

Throughout the winter months, we’re inviting individuals and communities across Scotland and the wider UK to:

• Raise funds for humanitarian aid in Gaza.

• Create warm items like blankets, hats, and scarves to donate to those facing hardship locally.

• Build connection, empathy, and hope through the shared act of making.

What We’ll Do with the Items

Funds raised will go to partner charity, British Red Cross - Gaza Crises Appeal, at the end of the campaign. The handcrafted items will bring warmth locally and can be donated to places of your choice. These could include, but are not limited to:

• Hospitals, and neonatal units – for patients and families facing long stays or difficult times.

• Refuge and homelessness centres – to provide comfort to people in crisis across Scotland.

• Local support organisations – including food banks, asylum seeker networks, and community hubs working with vulnerable groups.

Each hat, scarf, and square — whether knitted or crocheted — is an act of solidarity.
