Visit the charity's profileBlood Cancer UK is a community dedicated to beating blood cancer by funding research and supporting those affected. Since 1960, they have invested over £500 million in blood cancer research, transforming treatments and saving lives. Blood cancer is the 5th most common cancer in the UK, and the 3rd biggest cancer killer. It is the most common cancer in children.
Every penny counts, with a percentage being matched by the Swiss Re Foundation and all funds raised directly supporting two very special Blood Cancer UK projects:
Matthew Wilson Multiple Myeloma Fund - to help in our shared ambition to cure multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer which affects around 5000 people a year in the UK. Through investing in science we will improve treatments, survival rates and quality of life for people living with multiple myeloma and drive forward the day when we find a cure.
Clinical Trial Support Service (CTSS) - To directly fund one specialist nurse on the CTSS for the two years of our partnership. Across that time the service will directly support nearly 500 people, with the nurse funded by Swiss Re responsible for 200 patients. The service offers a support line staffed by our nurses who provide tailored information on eligible trials for people with blood cancer. A trial is often the last line of treatment for patients when other current treatments have failed to work. Without trials, advances in treatment would not be possible.
